Pastor Bird - Answering the call of God
My online friends know me as flyingbird65 and have come to call me Bird for short. What many of them know and some don’t know is that I am a fully ordained non-denominational pastor.
I came to being a pastor in a less then traditional way - I mail ordered my ordination. Yep, that’s right I received it through the mail.
I would like to take a few minutes to clarify my belief on receiving ordination through the mail and why I feel it is justifiable way of starting a ministry.
First of all ordination by mail is legally acceptable according to the United States Constitution. That is important to myself and those I have or will speak with concerning their christian walk.
Secondly, the bible is written by man, sanctioned by God. God ordained those that he used by calling them into service. Scripture tells us to go into the world and spread the gospel. King David and Solomon are both considered righteous men yet where called by God to minister to his people. The twelve disciples were all from varying backgrounds, none of which were ministers, rabbis, or otherwise trained to become followers of Christ. They were choosen to spread the gospel of Jesus.
Finally I have always felt that I was called to be a pastor. Sure there were times I also thought of other things I would rather do like - nurse, restaurant manager, etc. I believe however that God called me to service and to spread the gospel as a pastor.
This is not to say that I listened completely. I took my time, avoided the chances I had over the years to go to a bible college, even turned my back on God a few times thinking he would forget about me. None of that worked and I finally gave into God’s will for me.
I don’t take lightly being called to minister. Actually I find that it kind of scares me. I have no problem getting up in front of others and talking. I love doing that and look forward to doing so every chance I get.
So what can you expect over the next few days, months and even year from reading my postings here?
I hope to be able to bring you to a level of knowledge, foresight, understanding and wisdom based on sound Christian principles. It is also my hope that through my help and input you can find it within yourself to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal saviour.
In closing I would like to remind or inform you of God’s love for you. John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son”. Not to condemn us but so that we may have everlasting life.
Jesus Christ paid the ultimate blood sacrifice for our sins by dieing on the cross. Yet death was no match for God’s love for you because Jesus was raised from the dead. These events took place not so that Jesus Christ would go down as a miracle but so that each of us could see that death of the flesh is only temorary when we turn toward God and live an everlasting spirital life.
Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour? If not I invite you today to open your heart, mind and sould and pray this simple prayer with me today…..
Heavenly father I am a sinner. I repent of my sins and turn my life over to you. I know your love for me is complete and true and ask that your son Jesus Christ come into my life as my lord and saviour.
Amen.
If you’ve prayed that prayer today please leave me a comment and let me know. Also I encourage you to find a Bible believing and teaching church and start your walk as a new creature in Christ.
God Bless
Pastor Bird
